Orange is where Santiago Canyon Rd begins, and that shapes the repairs riders from here need. A long canyon descent asks a lot of a bike: brakes that bite the same at the bottom as at the top, tires without cuts or worn-through casings, and a headset that stays quiet under hard braking. When one of those is off, you feel it on the way down.

The other half of riding in Orange is the Santa Ana River Trail on the west side of the city: flat, car-free and good for recovery days. We see both kinds of bike on the stand, from canyon race bikes to trail commuters, and we work on road, triathlon, gravel and mountain bikes of any brand. You hear the work and the price from us before anything starts.

Getting your bike to the shop from Orange

About 10.9 miles by road from 300 E Chapman Ave, Orange (7.0 miles in a straight line). Approximate: computed from OpenStreetMap coordinates and routing data. Traffic and your exact start point change it.

From 300 E Chapman Ave (near the Plaza and the city offices): go west on Chapman Ave for about a mile and get onto the 55 (Costa Mesa Fwy) south. Stay on it for about 6 miles, exit at MacArthur Blvd and turn right. Follow MacArthur west for about 3 miles; the shop is between Fairview St and Harbor Blvd, in Suite B.

By bike: pick up the Santa Ana River Trail on the west side of Orange and ride it south past the stadium area all the way to the Talbert/MacArthur crossing near Fountain Valley. Leave the trail there and ride east on MacArthur for just under a mile.

Repairs Orange riders ask for most

  • Brake bleeds before canyon season — Fresh fluid and a firm lever for the descents off the Modjeska Grade and down Santiago Canyon Rd. Book this · More
  • Pads, rotors and caliper alignment — Long descents glaze pads and heat rotors. We replace pads, true rotors and line up calipers, rim or disc. Book this
  • Tires that are fit for descending — A tire with a cut sidewall or a squared-off tread is the wrong thing to discover halfway down a canyon. We replace tires and tubes and fix flats. Book this
  • Headset and bearing service — A knock under hard braking often points to the headset. Headsets, bottom brackets and other bearings are inspected and serviced or replaced, quoted on inspection. Book this
  • Tune-up — Safety check, shifting and brake adjustment, drivetrain lube and bolts torqued to spec before the climbing starts. Book this · More

Before a big day in the canyon, read our Santiago Canyon and Modjeska climb guide and run through the pre-ride checklist. Services are limited once you're out there, so the time to find a worn pad is on the stand, not at Cook's Corner.
