Upland riders have one of Southern California's best-known climbs on their doorstep: Mount Baldy Road, heading up into the San Gabriel Mountains from the foothills just west of town. Euclid Avenue runs straight up the slope through Upland, and the Pacific Electric Trail crosses the city east to west.

Foothills and mountain climbs
The Pacific Electric Trail, a rail-trail on the old Pacific Electric line, gives car-free miles across the valley through Upland, Rancho Cucamonga and Fontana. North of town, the foothill roads lead up into the mountains. Mountain roads can close for weather or fire, and conditions change fast with altitude, so check before you go.
Long descents heat brake fluid and wear pads. Before a big climbing day, get the brakes checked and make sure your gearing suits the climb.
Getting to the shop from Upland
About 39.0 miles by road from Upland City Hall (460 N Euclid Ave), roughly 55–70 minutes off-peak (approx.; 31.4 mi as the crow flies). Euclid Ave takes you to the I-10 west, and the SR-57 south does most of the work from there. Switch to the SR-22 west, exit at Harbor Blvd and go south to W MacArthur Blvd; we're just west of Harbor.
