Let's be straightforward: if you live in San Diego, a two-hour drive each way isn't the way to fix a flat. Your local shop is. Veloaded makes sense for San Diego County riders in two situations: when you want a specific, careful job done on a high-end road, tri or gravel bike and you're happy to ship it, or when you're already planning a trip north for a new bike, a build or a fit and want the service done at the same time.

Shipping service work to Santa Ana

Shipping works best for jobs that are easy to describe and don't need you there:

  • Wheels that need truing, spoke repair or a tubeless setup, sent on their own.
  • A frame for bottom bracket and bearing work, or for a full rebuild.
  • A complete bike for a Veloaded Essential Service, a brake bleed or electronic-shifting work.

For San Diego County riders, the order matters: arrangement first, box second. We accept bikes, frames and wheels shipped to the shop at 3420 W MacArthur Blvd Suite B, Santa Ana, CA 92704. Call (714) 760-4908 or email [email protected] first to arrange it and get a service ticket, and ask us about return shipping details. With the ticket open, we know what's coming and what you want done. The shipping guide covers packing.

What coastal and inland miles wear out

San Diego riders put in a lot of miles in good weather, and mileage is the main thing that wears a bike. On the coast, salt air gets into chains, cables, bolts and bearings, and sand finds its way into drivetrains. Inland, toward Escondido and San Marcos, heat dries tubeless sealant and long descents work brakes hard. Triathlon bikes add integrated fronts, hidden brakes and internal routing that reward careful work.

The service menu

  • 01 Veloaded Essential Service: drivetrain deep cleaning, derailleur hanger alignment, component reinstallation and adjustment, component inspection (chain, tires, brake pads and tubeless sealant) and a final safety check. For a coastal bike, the deep clean and inspection catch corrosion and wear early.
  • 03 Di2 / AXS / Campy Setup: Shimano Di2, SRAM AXS and Campagnolo electronic groupsets installed, paired, updated and fine-tuned. Salt air is hard on charging ports and junctions, so we check them too. More on electronic shifting service.
  • Hydraulic brake bleed, road or MTB: brake bleeds.
  • Wheel true and spoke repair: wheel truing.
  • Bottom bracket and bearings, press-fit or threaded.
  • Custom build: see custom builds for San Diego riders.
  • Triathlon service and pre-race checks: triathlon bike service.

We don't publish prices; your job and any parts are confirmed before work starts.

Before you box it up

A little preparation makes shipped service smoother. Note your saddle height before removing the seatpost. Photograph the cockpit if you care about exact bar and lever position. Write down the symptoms: when the noise happens, which gears skip, whether the brake lever feels soft from the first pull or goes soft on long descents. If the bike is a tri bike with an integrated front end, tell us so we know what to expect in the box. And send the full list of what you want done, so the job is agreed before the box arrives, not after. Riders often ship a wheelset alone for a true and a tubeless refresh, then bring the bike up for a bigger job later in the season.

Electronic shifting from a distance

Di2, AXS and Campagnolo electronic systems are a common reason San Diego riders contact us. Many problems turn out to be a battery, a firmware mismatch, a pairing issue or a hanger that's slightly bent; others need a cable or a component replaced. Tell us your groupset and the symptom when you open the ticket, and we can tell you whether shipping the complete bike makes sense.

Planning a visit instead

If you'd rather bring the bike yourself, make the trip do several things. Book the service, and add a professional fit, a new-bike quote or a build conversation on the same day. Mapped routes often use the SR-73 toll road; the I-5 to the I-405 works toll-free. Book online or call first so the shop can confirm your drop-off time.
