Los Angeles has plenty of bike shops, and for a flat tire or a quick adjustment the closest one is the right choice. This page is for the other jobs: the service you want done thoroughly, by one person who knows high-end road, triathlon and gravel bikes, and checked before it goes back to you. That's what Edgar Rodriguez, our Founder & Master Builder, does on the bench at Veloaded Cyclery in Santa Ana.

What LA riding does to a bike

Most LA miles are ridden on city streets. Potholes and expansion joints knock wheels out of true and loosen headsets. A bike leaning on a rack or a car door can bend a derailleur hanger just enough to make shifting skip. Long canyon descents in the San Gabriels and the Santa Monica Mountains heat brake fluid and wear pads, and the beach path brings sand and salt into chains and bolts. Very little of this is dramatic, but it adds up to a bike that doesn't feel as good as it should.

The service menu, in Ed's words

  • 01 Veloaded Essential Service: drivetrain deep cleaning, derailleur hanger alignment, component reinstallation and adjustment, component inspection (chain, tires, brake pads and tubeless sealant) and a final safety check. It's where most bikes should start, and the inspection tells you what else, if anything, is worth doing.
  • 03 Di2 / AXS / Campy Setup: Shimano Di2, SRAM AXS and Campagnolo electronic groupsets installed, paired, updated and fine-tuned. Common after an LA rack mishap: a knocked derailleur that needs re-indexing and a hanger check. See Di2 and AXS service.
  • Hydraulic brake bleed, the fix for a lever that sinks toward the bar after canyon descents. More on brake bleeds.
  • Wheel true and spoke repair, for rims that met an LA pothole. See wheel building and truing.
  • Bottom bracket and bearings: creak hunting and press-fit or threaded bottom bracket service or replacement.
  • Custom build: frame-up builds with the parts you choose; see custom builds for LA riders.

We don't publish prices. Every job is confirmed with you before work starts, and any parts we recommend are quoted first. The full list is on the service menu.

Drive in or ship: choosing from LA

Drive in if the job needs a conversation: a creak we have to hunt down, shifting that's never been right, or a bike you're also getting fitted for. Drop-off and pick-up are two trips, so many LA riders combine service with other work, such as a professional fit or a new-bike quote, to make the drive count.

Ship if the job is clear and you'd rather not sit on the 405 twice: a wheel that needs truing, a frame for a bottom bracket, or a complete bike for an Essential Service. We accept bikes, frames and wheels shipped to the shop at 3420 W MacArthur Blvd Suite B, Santa Ana, CA 92704. Call (714) 760-4908 or email [email protected] first to arrange it and get a service ticket, and ask us about return shipping details. Our guide to shipping a bike to the shop covers what to send and how to pack it.

How a repair visit works

  1. Book. Book online or call (714) 760-4908 and describe the problem: what you hear, what you feel and when it happens.
  2. Confirm. The shop calls or texts to confirm a drop-off time, so you're not driving down for nothing.
  3. Inspect and quote. If we find more than you booked, we tell you before doing it.
  4. Work and check. The job is done and the bike gets a final safety check.
  5. Pick up or ship back. Collect it in Santa Ana, or ask us about return shipping details if you shipped it in.

Describing the problem helps

The more precisely you describe a fault, the faster it's found. Useful details: does the noise happen when pedaling, braking or coasting? Only out of the saddle? Only in certain gears? Did it start after a crash, a car rack trip or a wheel change? For electronic groupsets, note any error lights and when you last updated firmware.

Bikes we see from LA County

We work on road, triathlon, gravel and mountain bikes of any brand, wherever you bought them, including the brands we're proud authorized dealers of: Pinarello, Colnago, Cervélo, Look and Scott frames, ENVE, Princeton and Scope wheels, CeramicSpeed bearings and Shimano groupsets. If you're riding a Pinarello, Colnago or Cervélo, the dealer guides for LA riders cover model-specific care.

Questions riders ask

Is it worth driving from LA for a repair?

For simple fixes, use a shop near you. For high-end bikes, electronic shifting, brake bleeds, creaks and wheel work, many riders prefer one careful bench, and shipping is an option if the drive is the problem.

What does the Essential Service include?

It is our starting-point service: the drivetrain is deep cleaned, the derailleur hanger aligned, components refitted and adjusted, and the chain, tires, pads and sealant inspected, finishing with a safety check.

Do you work on Campagnolo electronic groupsets?

Yes. Our Di2 / AXS / Campy Setup covers Shimano Di2, SRAM AXS and Campagnolo electronic groupsets.

How much does a repair cost?

We don't publish prices. Call (714) 760-4908 or book online; the job and any parts are confirmed with you before work starts.

Can I ship from LA instead of driving?

Yes. Phone (714) 760-4908 or email [email protected] for a service ticket first, then send the bike, frame or wheels to the Santa Ana shop. Ask about return shipping details when you set it up.
