Few places in Southern California pack as much climbing into so little space as the Palos Verdes Peninsula. The roads roll up and down above the ocean, the descents are fast, and the air is salty. Bikes here work hard: brakes on every descent, drivetrains on every climb, and every bolt slowly exposed to sea air.
Peninsula riders who come to us usually want a bike to match the terrain, light and well geared, fitted properly and maintained by the same person who built it.
Riding the Peninsula right now
An approximately two-mile stretch of Palos Verdes Drive South runs through the Portuguese Bend landslide area, where the roadway keeps moving. The City of Rancho Palos Verdes has repeatedly extended a temporary ban on bicycles, motorcycles and similar vehicles there, most recently in September 2026, so plan around it and check the city's land movement updates before you ride.
Elsewhere on the Peninsula, the climbs are steep and the descents fast. Book a brake bleed and pad check regularly, and keep the drivetrain clean against salt air.
