For a San Diego County rider, driving north for a bike fit is a real commitment, and we'd rather be honest about that than pretend otherwise. It makes the most sense when the fit is part of something bigger: setting up a new triathlon bike, planning a custom build around your position, or finally fixing a position that hasn't felt right through a season of long rides. In those cases, having the fit done by the same person who builds and services the bike is the point.

Triathlon fits: position you can hold

North County has a big triathlon community, and tri fits are where position matters most. An aero position only helps if you can hold it for the whole bike leg and still run afterward. A full fit on a TT or tri bike looks at:

  • Saddle height, setback and the saddle itself, which matters even more in the aero position
  • Base bar height and reach
  • Extension length, angle and pad position
  • Cleat position and alignment

We also set up and service triathlon bikes, including pre-race checks.

Road and gravel fits

On road and gravel bikes, a full fit works through saddle, reach and drop, bar and lever position, and cleats. Long coast rides and inland climbs tend to show up numb hands, sore knees and lower-back stiffness. Gravel adds its own demands: a position you can control on loose surfaces for hours. Any new part the fit points to, such as a stem, bar or saddle, is discussed with you and quoted separately. Pain that persists is also a reason to see a medical professional.

Fit before or after buying?

If you're about to buy a new bike, talk to us before you order. We go through stack and reach against your current position first, so the frame size is right, then fit you on the finished bike. A fit afterward can fine-tune a bike that's close, but it can't fix a frame that's the wrong size. If you're happy with your bike and just want it to feel better, a fit on the bike you own is the place to start.

Long-distance comfort

Whether it's a century along the coast or a long gravel day inland, the hours after the first three are where fit shows up. Small changes to saddle position, bar reach or cleat angle can make a long day far more comfortable. We'll explain each change as we make it, so you understand your own position.

Making the trip worth it

  1. Book well ahead. Choose "Bike fit" in online booking or call (714) 760-4908; we confirm price and scheduling directly with you.
  2. Combine jobs. Pair the fit with a new Cervélo, Pinarello or Colnago, a custom build or a full service.
  3. Bring everything you ride in: bike, shoes, kit, and for triathletes, the setup you race with.
  4. Allow for the I-5. Traffic through Camp Pendleton varies a lot.

Questions riders ask

Is it worth driving from San Diego for a fit?

It's most worth it when the fit is part of a bigger job, such as a new bike, a tri setup or a custom build. Call first and we'll help you decide.

Do you fit triathlon bikes?

Yes, including base bar, extensions and pad position.

How much does a fit cost and how long does it take?

Ask us when you book; we confirm price and scheduling with you directly.

Can you fit a bike I bought elsewhere?

Yes, any brand, road, tri, gravel or mountain.

Can I send my bike up instead of driving?

For repairs or a build, yes: call (714) 760-4908 or email first to get a service ticket. For a fit you need to come to the shop with the bike, shoes and kit.
