Escondido riders live closer to the hills than the beach. The roads east and north of town lead into inland North County's long climbs, and the big objective for many is Palomar Mountain. It's hotter than the coast, and the descents are long.
That's why Escondido riders who come to us usually want a bike with the right gearing and brakes they can rely on, from a dealer who'll build it, fit it and service it.
Inland North County riding
The Escondido Creek Trail gives in-town riders a paved path through the city, and the roads toward Lake Hodges, Valley Center and Palomar Mountain are where the longer days go. Expect heat in summer and long descents on the way home.
Heat dries tubeless sealant, and long descents age brake fluid and wear pads. Before a big climbing day, check tires and pads, and book a brake bleed if the lever feels soft.
