Inland Empire riding is long: long climbs toward Mount Baldy and the San Bernardino Mountains, long valley miles, long tri training rides around Temecula, and long summer days in the heat. Hours in the saddle are where a position that's slightly off turns into numb hands, sore knees or a stiff back. That's when riders from Riverside and San Bernardino counties make the drive to Santa Ana for a full professional fit.

What a full fit covers

  • Saddle height, setback and tilt, and whether the saddle itself suits you
  • Reach and drop: stem length and height, spacers, bar width and rotation
  • Brake lever and shifter position
  • Cleat position and alignment
  • For tri and TT bikes, base bar, extensions and pads

Fits are done by Edgar Rodriguez, our Founder & Master Builder, the same person who builds and services bikes on our bench. Where a new part would help, we say so first and quote it separately.

Fit for climbing and endurance

Climbing changes how you sit on the bike, and so does heat and fatigue late in a long ride. A position you can only hold for an hour won't work for a mountain day. For many IE riders the goal is a sustainable position: comfortable enough to ride all day, efficient enough to climb well. Sometimes that's a fit on the bike you already own; sometimes it shows that a different frame, such as an endurance geometry, would suit you better. We'll tell you honestly either way.

Gravel and mountain bikes too

Inland Empire riders often own more than one bike: a road bike for the climbs and a gravel or mountain bike for the dirt in places like Chino Hills State Park. We fit gravel and mountain bikes as well as road and tri bikes. Contact points on different bikes don't need to be identical, but they should feel consistent, so bring the bikes you want looked at and tell us how you use each one.

Fits with a new bike

If you're buying a new bike, do the fit as part of it. We go through stack and reach before anything is ordered, then fit you on the finished bike. See the Cervélo dealer for Inland Empire riders page, or ask about Pinarello and Colnago.

Booking from the IE

  1. Reserve a time. Use online booking (pick "Bike fit") or phone (714) 760-4908, and ask about price and scheduling then.
  2. Tell us about your riding: where you ride, how far, any discomfort and any events.
  3. Bring your bike, shoes and usual kit.
  4. Pick your time. Off-peak drives on the 91 or 57 are much easier.

The main professional bike fitting page covers new-bike sizing in more depth.

Questions riders ask

Can a fit help with knee or back pain on long rides?

Position is a common cause of discomfort, and a fit often helps. Pain that persists is also a reason to see a medical professional; a fit isn't a diagnosis.

Can you fit a bike I bought elsewhere?

Yes. We fit road, triathlon, gravel and mountain bikes of any brand.

How much does a fit cost and how long does it take?

Ask us when you book; we confirm price and scheduling with you directly.

Do you fit triathlon bikes for Temecula-area riders?

Yes, including base bar, extensions and pad position.

Should I get fit before buying a new bike?

Ideally, talk to us before you order. We check stack and reach against your current position so the size is right, then fit you on the finished bike.

Can I ship my bike for service instead?

Service and builds, yes, after you arrange a service ticket by phone or email. Fits only happen in person at the Santa Ana shop.
