Road bike shop for Orange County riders

Race bikes, endurance bikes, aero wheels and the people who build and fit them, on one bench in Santa Ana. For Riders Who Expect More.

Most bike shops try to be everything to everyone. Veloaded Cyclery leans toward the road. Our authorized brands are led by four road bike makers with racing pedigrees, we build bikes from the frame up, Ed does full professional fits, and the service menu is built around the jobs road riders actually need: electronic shifting, hydraulic brakes, wheels and bearings. If you're looking for a general neighborhood shop, the Orange County bike shop guide covers everything we do for every city. This page is for road riders: what to buy, how we size and build it, and where to ride it in Orange County.

Road frames: Pinarello, Colnago, Bianchi and Cervélo

We're proud authorized dealers of four of the best-known names in road racing. Each has its own dealer guide with the current model families as listed on the brand's own site:

  • Pinarello: the Dogma F race bike and the F-series that follows its geometry, the Dogma X and X-series for endurance, plus gravel.
  • Colnago: the V-series race bikes, the Y1Rs aero bike, the handmade C68 and C72, steel bikes and gravel.
  • Bianchi: the Oltre aero bike, the Specialissima climbing bike, the Infinito endurance and all-road bike and the Aquila for time trials.
  • Cervélo: the S5 aero bike, the R5 climbing bike, the Soloist, the Caledonia endurance bike and the P-series for triathlon.

We also sell Look and Scott. We don't publish stock or prices online because they change. Ask what can be ordered now, and you get a quote before anything is ordered.

Wheels, components and kit

A road bike is more than its frame. We're authorized for ENVE, Princeton and Scope wheels; CeramicSpeed bearings and drivetrain parts; Shimano groupsets; KASK and MET helmets; and ASSOS, Q36.5 and Velocio clothing. That means a new bike can be specced the way you want it, and an existing bike can be upgraded one piece at a time: a lighter wheelset for the climbs, a deeper one for the coast, a bearing upgrade or a groupset change.

Race, aero, climbing or endurance? Matching the bike to Orange County roads

Orange County asks a road bike to do a lot in one week. A rider might do a fast, flat loop of the Back Bay on Tuesday, climb Santiago Canyon to Cook's Corner on Saturday and roll down the coast to Laguna on Sunday. The right bike depends on which of those you do most:

  • Mostly coast and flat roads, fast group pace or racing: an aero race bike such as the Cervélo S5, Bianchi Oltre or Colnago Y1Rs.
  • Mostly climbing, with Turtle Rock, Santiago Canyon or Ortega in your week: a light all-rounder such as the Cervélo R5, Bianchi Specialissima, Colnago V-series or Pinarello Dogma F.
  • Long days, rough pavement and comfort first: endurance geometry such as the Pinarello Dogma X, Bianchi Infinito or Cervélo Caledonia.
  • Triathlon and time trials: the Cervélo P-series or Bianchi Aquila; see triathlon bikes.

These are starting points for a conversation, not a rule. Frame size (stack and reach) matters more than the model name, so we go through sizing with you before anything is ordered.

Custom builds and full professional fits

Many of our road customers buy a frameset and build it up. Ed builds every bike in-house: frame prep, headset and bottom bracket, groupset and electronic shifting, hydraulic brakes, wheels, cockpit and bar tape, everything torqued to spec. See custom bike builds. Ed also does full professional bike fits, with saddle, cockpit, lever and cleat position dialed in for how you ride, on a new bike or the one you already own. See professional bike fitting.

Road bike service

Road bikes are on the bench every day: the Veloaded Essential Service, Di2 / AXS / Campy setup, hydraulic brake bleeds, wheel truing, tubeless and bearing work. For the whole repair menu and every Orange County city we serve, see bike repair in Orange County.
