Shimano is the Japanese component maker behind many of the road and gravel bikes in Orange County. Veloaded Cyclery is a proud authorized Shimano dealer, and Shimano Di2 work is a big part of what we do on the bench.

The Shimano road and gravel groupsets

  • Dura-Ace. Shimano's top road groupset, used in WorldTour racing.
  • Ultegra. The level below Dura-Ace, with much of the same design.
  • 105. Shimano's performance road groupset, available in Di2 and mechanical versions.
  • GRX. Shimano's gravel groupsets, with gearing and controls for mixed terrain.

Shimano also makes SPD-SL road pedals, SPD off-road pedals, and wheels.

Di2 installation and setup

Shimano Di2 shifting is precise once it's set up properly. We install Di2 groupsets, route wires, update firmware, pair components with the E-TUBE app, and fine-tune adjustment and shift settings. If your Di2 bike shifts slowly, won't charge or has a component that won't connect, bring it in. See Di2, AXS and Campy setup.

Upgrades and gearing for Orange County

Riders who climb Santiago Canyon, Modjeska or Carbon Canyon often want lower gears. We can talk through Shimano cassette and chainring options and check what your derailleur supports. Riders moving from mechanical to Di2 can ask about an upgrade; we'll check frame compatibility first. And hydraulic disc brakes need fresh fluid from time to time; Shimano uses mineral oil, and we bleed them with the correct fluid. See hydraulic brake bleeds.
