Bike fit for Irvine riders, with Ed at Veloaded Cyclery

Why Irvine riders book a fit

Irvine's off-street bikeways connect to the Mountains to Sea Trail and the Back Bay, and the climbs in Turtle Rock and the roads out toward Santiago Canyon are close by. That mix is hard on a position that is only nearly right: long, steady bikeway miles hold you in one place for an hour or more, and the climbs load your knees and lower back differently again.

Long training rides on the bikeways, for a triathlon or a big event, tend to bring out the same few problems: hands that go numb, a knee that aches after the second hour, a saddle that never feels settled. Those are exactly the things a fit looks at.

Getting to the shop from Irvine

Veloaded Cyclery is one shop, in Santa Ana at 3420 W MacArthur Blvd Suite B, Santa Ana, CA 92704: about 5.9 road miles from Irvine City Hall, roughly 15–25 min off-peak (approximate, from OpenStreetMap routing; rush-hour traffic on the 405, 5 and 55 can add a lot).

From Irvine City Hall (1 Civic Center Plaza), take Alton Pkwy to Red Hill Ave, then MacArthur Blvd, and stay on MacArthur heading west past the 55 and Bristol St. The shop is on W MacArthur between Fairview St and Harbor Blvd, in Suite B. Because MacArthur runs straight through, you can make this trip without getting on a freeway.

What the fit with Ed includes

• A conversation first: how and where you ride, anything that hurts or goes numb, old injuries, and what you want to change
• On your own bike, while you pedal: changes are made one at a time and checked with you
• Contact points: saddle height, setback and tilt; reach and drop; brake lever and shifter position; cleat position
• Road, triathlon, gravel and mountain bikes of any brand, wherever you bought them
• Parts quoted first: if the fit calls for a different stem, bar or saddle, you hear why and the price before anything is ordered

It's the same full fit described on our bike fit Orange County and bike fit Santa Ana pages, at the same shop. Fit prices aren't published online; the price and time are confirmed with you when you book.

Repairs, frames and wheels on the same trip

• Repair and service, any brand: bike repair for Irvine riders, tune-ups, brake bleeds, Di2 and AXS, tubeless and wheel truing and builds
• Bikes and frames: authorized dealer for Colnago and Pinarello, plus Cervélo and Bianchi. Ed can size you before a bike or frame is ordered, and custom builds start from the frame you choose. Request a bike quote.
• Shipped bikes, frames and wheels accepted: if dropping off doesn't suit you, call (657) 744-9442 or email veloadedcyclery@gmail.com first to arrange it and get a service ticket, then ship to the shop and ask about return shipping details (ship your bike).
